¡Habemus Papam! ¡Tenemos Papa!

El cardenal Robert Francis Prevost ha sido elegido como el Papa número 267, tomando el nombre de Papa León XIV.
Desde la comunidad de Corpus Christi en Ferris, nos unimos en oración con toda la Iglesia para agradecer a Dios por nuestro nuevo Santo Padre.
Pedimos al Espíritu Santo que lo colme de sabiduría, fortaleza y amor para guiar al Pueblo de Dios en este tiempo.

Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost has been elected as the 267th Pope, taking the name Pope Leo XIV.
From the community of Corpus Christi in Ferris, we join the universal Church in prayer and thanksgiving for our new Holy Father.
May the Holy Spirit grant him wisdom, strength, and love to guide God’s people in these times.

Statement by Bishop Edward J. Burns

With great joy and deep gratitude to God, I join my brother priests, deacons, religious, and all the faithful of the Diocese of Dallas — and indeed the whole world — in celebrating the election of our new Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV. This is a moment of profound hope and renewal for the Church, as Our Lord has provided a new shepherd to guide us in faith, truth, and charity.

What a surprise to learn that a young country like the United States of America would bring forth one of her own sons to become the shepherd of the Universal Church. This is a historic moment for the Catholic Church in the United States and throughout the world.

We embrace our new Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, with open hearts and steadfast prayers. As he begins his Petrine ministry in leading the Church through these challenging times, he will have our unwavering prayers and support. We are grateful that Our Lord has given us a shepherd in the line of St. Peter, to whom the Savior said: “Peter, you are rock, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the jaws of death shall not prevail against it.” (Mt 16:18)

I invite everyone to pray that the Lord will grant our new Holy Father a spirit of courage, compassion, and love. May the Holy Spirit fill him with wisdom and strength, so that he may serve with joy and bear witness to the hope, mercy, and peace that only Christ can offer.

As we enter this new chapter in the life of the Church, let us walk together with renewed faith, trusting always in the Lord who is ever faithful.

May God bless our Holy Father, and may Mary, Mother of the Church, intercede for him as he begins his pontificate.

Con gran alegría y profunda gratitud a Dios, me uno a mis hermanos sacerdotes, diáconos, religiosos y a todos los fieles de la Diócesis de Dallas —y, de hecho, del mundo entero— para celebrar la elección de nuestro nuevo Santo Padre, el Papa León XIV. Este es un momento de profunda esperanza y renovación para la Iglesia, ya que Nuestro Señor nos ha provisto de un nuevo pastor para guiarnos en la fe, la verdad y la caridad.

¡Qué sorpresa descubrir que un país joven como los Estados Unidos de América haya dado a uno de sus propios hijos para convertirse en el pastor de la Iglesia Universal! Este es un momento histórico para la Iglesia Católica en los Estados Unidos y en todo el mundo.

Recibimos a nuestro nuevo Santo Padre, el Papa León XIV, con corazones abiertos y oraciones constantes. Al comenzar su ministerio petrino guiando a la Iglesia en estos tiempos desafiantes, contará con nuestras oraciones y apoyo inquebrantables. Invito a todos a orar para que el Señor conceda a nuestro nuevo Santo Padre un espíritu de valentía, compasión y amor. Que el Espíritu Santo lo llene de sabiduría y fortaleza, para que pueda servir con alegría y dar testimonio de la esperanza, la misericordia y la paz que solo Cristo puede ofrecer.

Al comenzar este nuevo capítulo en la vida de la Iglesia, caminemos juntos con una fe renovada, confiando siempre en el Señor, que es eternamente fiel.

Que Dios bendiga a nuestro Santo Padre, y que María, Madre de la Iglesia, interceda por él al iniciar su pontificado.

We believe in one God, Creator of all things, holy, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in a loving unity of three equally divine Persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Having limitless knowledge and sovereign power, God has graciously purposed from eternity to redeem people for Himself and to make all things new for His own glory. We believe in the real presence of Jesus, who died for our sins. As we receive Christ’s Body and Blood, we also are nourished spiritually and brought closer to God.

In living out the mystery of the transfiguration of the Body and Blood of Christ through the Eucharistic, our parish community powerfully proclaims the Kingdom of God among us. We joyfully celebrate the Sacraments with our faith in Jesus the Christ. We truthfully teach the Scriptures/Traditions with our hope in the Holy Spirit, following the Tradition and Magistery of the Catholic Catechism, under the leadership of the Diocese of Dallas.
